Topic: The Wise And Unwise Part 2
Text: 1 Samuel 18:5-15.
Proverbs 13:20 says: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. This is a new year, and you have to be wise in your doings.
No matter what you try to do, you cannot be able to please everybody. Therefore, you should be closer to those who will be able to challenge your Christian life to a higher level because, anyone who does not believe in your vision, will kill your vision.
Romans 16:17-18 said: Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned (from the bible and not your pastors doctrine) and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
1 Samuel 18:5-15 says: And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants. And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? And Saul eyed David from that day and forward. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice. And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
Here, we find out that David was very careful in the sight of king Saul and began to walk wisely because of that. Saul was afraid of little David for God was with David. Therefore, don’t be a fool but be wise in this 2021 because we are in the midst of crooked and perverse generations.
Prayer: Oh God, help me not to be a fool but to be wise in all my endeavours this year, in Jesus name.
