Text: Matthew 5:14-16
In John 8:12 said: Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. This statement points to His unique divine identity and purpose. In declaring Himself to be the light of the world, Jesus was claiming that He is the exclusive source of spiritual light. No other source of spiritual truth is available to mankind.
John 1:9 said: That was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
We take a physical light or candle into the room to dispel the darkness. Likewise, the light of Jesus Christ has to be taken into the darkness of sin that engulfs the hearts and lives of those who are not following Him in spirit and truth, whole heartedly and sincerity.
Matthew 5:14-16 says: 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
You as a child of God, are supposed to be an example to the unbelievers but when you are still compromising with them in the office, market, school, business ground e.t.c how can they embrace your God? Unbelievers can steal, cheat, lie, fornicate, hate, harbour grudge, dress half-naked, pretend, refuse to forgive, keep malice, be proud, use fake certificates, passport, reduce or increase their age and you that call yourself a Christian ( light ) can do the same. So, how then is your light shining?
Prayer: Oh God, I repent from every compromise and pretence that will lead me to hell, in Jesus name.
