Joshua 24:14-15 says: Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt, and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. As we are still in the beginning of the new year, you have to make up your mind not to be disconnected from the source of life (Jesus Christ) because John 15:4-6 said: Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. So, you can chose to be connected with Jesus Christ (life) or be disconnected (death)
Brother Joshua only made a decision for his family alone and you can make yours, but remember Jesus said, without Him, you can do nothing.
Genesis 2:15-17 says: And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die.
In Genesis 3:1-24 God was watching the women when she stretched her hand to pluck of the fruit. He had the power to stop her, but He didn’t because He had given the instruction not to eat of the tree in the middle. Verses 6-7 says: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
James 1:14-15 says: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. There and then Adam and Eve where separated from God (died spiritually) and God pronounced judgment on them immediately. So, what choice are you going to make, life or death? The choice is yours.
Prayer: Oh God, help me not to make a decision that will separate me from you in this year, in Jesus name.
