Take Away The Stone.
Text: John 11:39-44
Your stone could be unbelief, sin or disobedience. Until we do what is right, most of our breakthrough will not come. Hebrews 4:6 says; Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief.
In Psalms 66:18 David says; If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. In 1 Samuel 15:22-23 says; Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings, and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, He hath also rejected thee from being king.
Matthew 13:5-6 talked about a sower who sowed a seed and some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth; and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth. And when the sun was up, they were scorched and because they had not root, they withered away. In our text above, Jesus could not do anything until they obeyed by taking away the stone. Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always; but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast send me. And I knew that thou hearest me always; but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus said unto them, loose him, and let him go. God said in Ezekiel 36:26, A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Therefore, for the promises of God to be fulfilled in your life, you have to take away the stone which may be unbelief, secret sin and disobedience to the word of God.
Prayer: Oh God, help my unbelief, increase my faith and give me the Grace to abide your word, in Jesus name.
