Topic: Foundation Matters Part 2
Text: Luke 6:47-49.
The reason why many people especially men of God both holiness and none holiness preachers wandered away from faith, is because they left the foundation of Jesus and the apostles and began using their own head knowledge. And when you ask many of them questions about what they are preaching and teaching, they cannot back themselves with the word of God (bible) all they will say is, we have to use human wisdom. Forgetting that (Proverbs 3:5-6) says: Lean not unto thine own understanding and be not wise in thy own eyes and Galatians 1:6-9 said: I marvel that ye are soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would prevent the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accused. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Ephesians 2:20-22 says: And are build upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone. In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord. In whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.
If your foundation is builded upon Jesus and the apostles, you cannot preach or teach what they did not preach or teach.
Luke 6:47-49 says: Whosoever cometh to me and heareth my saying, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like. He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock; and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it; for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. A song writer says every other ground are sinking sand. Therefore, do all you can to lay a good foundation in this year, so that your efforts may not be in vain, in Jesus name.
Prayer: Oh God, help me not to build on sinking sand but upon the solid rock (Jesus) in Jesus name.
