Topic: Life Or Death Part 1.
Text: Deuteronomy 30:15-19
God does not tamper man’s will. He made man to be a free moral agent. God only gives instructions and allows man to make their choice.
Genesis 4:3-8 said: And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
God told Cain that sin lieth at the door in wait of him and that Cain has power to rule over sin but Cain did the opposite by allowing sin to rule over him. God was watching when Cain was using sweet words to lure Abel to the farm and killed him.
God has the power to stop Cain but He didn’t because He had already told Cain what to do. Cain did the wrong thing and judgement was pronounced on him immediately.
God gave us instruction through His word (Bible) He will not stop you from choosing life or death because the power of choice is in your hands.
Deuteronomy 30:15-19 says: See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
God is a good God and He is suggesting life for you and for me, so that we will eat the good of the land in this 2021. Will you accept the good offer or reject it? Remember, there are consequences for both. Romans 6:23 said: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Prayer: Oh God, help me to choose life so that, me and my family may live as you tarries, in Jesus name.
