Standing In The Gap.
Text: Ezekiel 22 : 30
If there is a man or women that can pray, there is a God in heaven that still answer prayers. James 5:16 says; Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Pray for another person not just selfish prayer of me, myself and I that the people of God are praying. When last did you pray for your nation, the leaders in your country, your neighbours, your co-workers, extended family, your pastor, your members both good and the bad ones, your enemies soul salvation e.t.c Esther said; If I perish I perish, not just for herself but particularly for the people of Israel ( Esther 4:16 )
In Exodus 32:32 Moses said; God, if thou will forgive their sin, and if not, blot me, l pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. In Nehemaiah 1:4-7 He mourned, fasted and prayed before the God of heaven confessing his sin and that of the people of Israel saying: God, let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servant, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee; both I and my father’s house have sinned. We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commanded thy servant Moses. Samuel said for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. ( I Samuel 12:23 )
In our text above, God said; And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none. ( Ezekiel 22:30 ) Abraham stood in the gap when God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah to bargain from fifty to ten and God said ; I will not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for ten’s sake. But unfortunately, when He got there, He could not find ten righteous persons in the land of Sodom and Gomorrah. ( Genesis 18 : 20-32 ) Prayer: Oh God, help me to stand in the gap for others and not just me, myself and I, in Jesus name.
