Topic: The Company You Keep Part 2

Text: 2 Samuel 13:1-14.

1 Corinthians 15:33 says:  Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. No matter how smart or wise you are, if you keep moving with a thief, one day you will be tempted to steal. If one of your fingers touches oil, if not washed it will rub the rest fingers. So, you have to be careful in this 2021 about your inner circle so as to be able to finish well.
In Psalms 84:10  David said; For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Romans 16:17-18 Paul said: Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Jesus said in Luke 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves,  and them that were entering in ye hindered. There are many people who don’t want to go to heaven and they don’t want others to go. If those people are around you, you have to be careful because heaven is personal.

2 Samuel 13:1-14 said: And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her. But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother: and Jonadab was a very subtle man. And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king’s son, lean from day today? wilt thou  not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister. And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand. So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in sight, that I may eat at her hand. Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon’s house, and dress him meat. So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes. And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him. And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother. And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, sister. And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly. And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee. Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.
You could see here that Amnon ‘s friend Jonadab was a very subtle man as also the serpent that deceived Eve ( Genesis 3:1 )  If you have subtle characters around you, you will not fulfil your destiny on earth.
Proverbs 22:24-25 says: Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shall not go. Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
1 Corinthians 5:9-13 says:  I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous  or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one, no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?  But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. So, think about the company you will keep in this 2021.

Prayer: Oh God, help me to surround myself with good company this year so as not to be led astray, in Jesus name.

Bible reading for the day Psalms 26:4-5, Proverbs 13:20 and Proverbs 14:7
